From the benefits of groundwater, you need to know the factors that influence the quality of groundwater around us. Moreover, you are a player in the business world who definitely needs good and good groundwater quality. Therefore, here are 5 factors that influence groundwater quality.

  • Water Hardness is the level of hardness of water which is generally caused by the elements Ca and Mg. Groundwater with several dissolved metal contents, such as Na, Mg, Ca, and Fe. If groundwater contains high amounts of metal components, it will cause hard water.
  • Dissolved Solids are the total solids dissolved in groundwater or all the substances left behind after the water is evaporated at a temperature of 103 degrees to 105 degrees Celsius. Raw water used for household needs and drinking water has a maximum content limit of 1,000 mg/l or called class I water quality standards. These dissolved substances include other organic substances in small quantities, as well as gases and inorganic salts.
  • Electrical Conductivity is the ability of water to conduct electricity. This conductivity is influenced by the salt content in the water. The higher the salt element, the higher the electrical conductivity it will have. Water conductivity is then influenced by dissolved substances, water temperature and chloride ions.
  • Water acidity is then expressed in pH with a measuring scale between 1-14. Water with good quality is one that has a neutral pH, namely pH 7. If the pH of the water is more than 7, it will be alkaline, while if it is less than 7, it will be acidic.
  • The ion content, both cations and anions, contained in water is measured in parts per million (ppm) or mg/l. The ions contained in water include Na, K, Zn, Cl, SO4, H2SF, NH4, NO3, NO2, CO2, CO3, HCO3, Ca, Mg, Al, Fe, Mn, Cu, KMnO4, SiO2, Cr , Cd, Hg, Co, boron, metal ions that are usually rare and toxic include Pb, Sn, As.

To find out the content, quality and how to use groundwater, groundwater drilling and groundwater discharge measurements are needed. You can consult with your drilled well planner or a consultancy service that usually operates in the groundwater sector.
